Heidi Chiavaroli (pronounced shev-uh-roli…sort of like Chevrolet and ravioli mushed together!) wrote her first story in third grade, titled I’d Cross the Desert for Milk. It wasn’t until years later that she revisited writing, using her two small boys’ nap times to pursue what she thought at the time was a foolish dream. Despite a long road to publication, she hasn’t stopped writing since!
Heidi Chiavaroli is a hope-inspired storyteller writing from the deep curiosity of her own heart. Her debut novel, Freedom’s Ring, was a Carol Award winner and a Christy Award finalist, a Romantic Times Top Pick, and a Booklist Top Ten Romance Debut. Her second Carol Award-winning novel, The Orchard House, is inspired by the lesser-known events in Louisa May Alcott’s life and led her to write The Orchard House Bed and Breakfast series, a contemporary twist on Little Women. Her latest project, Draw Close to Jesus: 40 Encounters with the Savior for the Sacred Season of Lent is a fiction-based devotional inspired by Scripture. Heidi makes her home in Massachusetts with her husband and two sons.

Born in suburban New Jersey and raised in a small home, Jason spent his childhood dreaming of adventures in the wide open world(s). Age 10 saw him writing his first story: a child’s tribute to the impactful Chronicles of Narnia; and the teen years were filled with machinations of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Today, Jason is still telling stories, and, as of posting, he aims to begin publishing in the next 12 months. As an only child, he attributes any future success to the enduring patience of his beloved parents; he also credits his friends and extended family for their warm acceptance and support of his eccentric ambition.

It is a time of refreshing and rejuvenating, learning new tips and techniques and polishing what you already know. It is a time for rekindling old friendships and making new friends. It is a time of spiritual renewal-energizing and equipping us to continue pursuing our calling to write and speak for Jesus.
The location is a great place for being calm and quiet before God. The teaching was superb and there were plenty of opportunities for fellowship and connecting with writers and not-yet writers.
A fully positive experience that happens to be very productive.
My first ReNEW retreat was an A+ experience; full of encouragement for my own writing life, inspiration from a gifted slate of speakers and teachers, and spiritual refreshment for my soul in a beautiful, tranquil place. I highly recommend!
reNEW is a place to feed the creative soul God gave us! You will be challenged to deepen your faith at the same time as you develop your craft for communicating well. The friendships I've developed over the years of attending reNEW just grow deeper and sweeter every year!
As the name implies, the reNEW writers retreat helps writers renew their heart and spirit, while also honing their writing and speaking skills. If you want a slower-paced conference that doesn't overwhelm with a jam-packed schedule of workshops, this may be the place for you.
Wondering if this retreat is for you? To borrow a phrase from Nike's genius marketing: "Just do it!" This group of dedicated, faithful, capable women shared their knowledge and heart with me. This was a big leap for me but I'm so glad I said "yes" when my friend asked me to attend. (Thanks, Kathy!)
reNEW is such a special community of writers. The encouragement, the professional sessions and workshops, and the amazing support is why I keep coming back.
Having a weekend away to connect with God and other writers was a balm for my soul and a kick in the pants to get back to writing.
Spiritual inspiration, professional development and companionship for the journey in one conference.
At reNEW, I was reminded of my calling, encouraged to go deeper, offered focused training, and enjoyed the company of like-minded women! We spent the weekend engaging honestly with one another about the joys and struggles of writing and I left freer and more energized to live into my ordinary life and work.
The balance of time to write, time to learn, time to connect, and time apart with the Lord proved unique and welcome.
God continues to use reNEW to grow me into a woman who communicates His encouragement and purpose.
